It's New Year's Day and it's that time again where those special three buzz words are being flung about all day.
Yep, you guessed it; 'New Year's Resolutions'.
Those pesky resolutions where today, the first day of January it's all so easy and yet come February, it's usually all forgotten!
Instead of attributing this to some character flaw or personality weakness a suggestion is to simply give up on your projected wants for this coming year and try it differently.
Bear with me.
You see, I am all up for every single one of us aiming to be the best we can be.
I love that people want to do better or be better.
I love that people aim high and are full of desire and strength in January.
Except, that making resolutions in January to firm up how we will be living our life in October is always a little tricky.
The reason I say this is that making decisions about October in January means we are projecting and focused on living in the future rather than our present moment.
Which by the way, is all we really have.
You see I think there is only ever one resolution we need to make.
To live in the moment, one day at a time.
So I'm thinking, instead of asking yourself what your new year's resolutions are for 2016, a more important question to be asking yourself is “How can I remain conscious enough and live in my present moment each day this year?”
You see it is such a waste of precious moments when we are going over the past, comparing ourselves to others or projecting into our future.
Wasting precious moments do not lead us to become the person we want to be.
So why not just resolve to keep it simple and live each day to the fullest.
Anyone can do virtually anything if it is for only one day.
So instead of telling yourself; 'I am going to go the gym 3 times a week for 4 months and by April I will be at my goal body shape'
I would instead suggest you try this: How do I want to conduct my life today? How will I remain present?
When you get good at living your present moment, one day at a time, you’ll see yourself changing right before your own eyes.
It's a surefire way to actually succeed.
And, it will be a lot easier than you think.
Happy 2016 lovely reader.
